Owned and operated by Elysabeth Kleinhans Theatrical Foundation—a not-for-profit operating foundation—59E59 Theaters is a lively venue with a 195-seat theater, a 99-seat theater and a 40-60 seat flexible theater. We present a year-round curated program of about 34 Off-Broadway productions that are nurtured and supported through highly subsidized rental rates that include: technical, ticketing, FOH, marketing & advertising, facilities, and press services.

Finance Associate/Office Manager

The Finance Associate/Office Manager works closely with the Executive Staff to handle accounting, human resources, and administrative duties. Reports to: Managing Director
Hours: FT 40 hours, weekdays

Duties and Responsibilities:

Accounting/Bookkeeping

  • Manage accounts payables and accounts receivables.
  • Maintain general ledger
  • Manage cash flow–daily/weekly bar sales, box office tickets sales, etc.
  • Reconcile weekly box office sales settlements for each show/licensee and settle with each show in a timely manner
  • Handle daily banking matters and bank reconciliations
  • Provide support to auditors during the annual audit process
  • Maintain bar inventory and handle payment for all show merchandise, etc.
  • Work with Managing Director to set budgets, review expenses, and update procedures

Human Resources/Payroll

  • Work closely with our payroll company to ensure payroll is paid correctly and on time
  • Process new hires and maintain and update all employee paperwork
  • Keep current with labor laws and ensure compliance
  • Oversee all benefits administration to full-time staff
  • Ability to keep sensitive information confidential

Office Management

  • Maintain office equipment, supplies inventory, etc.
  • Provide general administrative support to other departments as necessary
  • Participate in Annual 360 Review Process
  • Additional duties as assigned by Managing Director

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional organizational skills with superior attention to detail
  • Excellent computer skills with high proficiency in QuickBooks (for Mac), MS Office and fluency in Mac operating system
  • Strong follow-through skills and ability to think laterally and troubleshoot problems
  • Ability to work independently and effectively
  • Ability to multitask in a calm and focused manner
  • Demonstrated time-management skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Accounting experience, preferably in the non-profit sector
  • Familiarity with HR policies, benefits administration, and payroll 

Salary
$48,000

House Manager

The House Manager is responsible for making sure the Front of House experience remains a safe and welcoming environment for our audience members.

Reports to: Theater Manager

Hours: Full-Time, Evenings & Weekends

Manages: Ushers (15 Part-Time)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Theater Manager in managing Front of House operations for 3 theater spaces 
  • Manage FOH personnel at assigned areas.
  • Training part time usher staff in implementation and documentation of all customer service procedures, evacuation, medical & life safety issues as they relate to patrons.
  • Coordinate with production companies to maintain daily show operations (i.e. to ensure that all three spaces open on time, the performance begins on time, late seating is on schedule and intermissions stay within the requested time frame).
  • Prepare nightly house reports as well as maintain fire log and incident reports for insurance purposes.
  • Work with Marketing department to facilitate the viewing of productions by members of the media; enforce house rules regarding photography, audio, and videotaping. 
  • Directing Patrons to appropriate theater spaces.
  • Providing information to patrons in regards to memberships and shows currently playing in the theater.
  • Perform Pre-show theater checks to ensure theater is in a respectable manner to allow patrons in.
  • Monitor audience actions and report any disturbances that might occur during a show.
  • Report all lost and found items.
  • Responsible for taking tickets and reporting the House Count in the House Report.
  • Attending quarterly managerial trainings on IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility) 
  • Participate in Annual 360 Performance Review Process
  • Additional duties as assigned by Theater Manager
  • Must be COVID-19 Vaccinated

Qualifications:

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Positive attitude and flexibility
  • Ability to stay calm in a fast-paced environment
  • Need to be able to troubleshoot and work independently as well as part of a team
  • Previous Theater Front of House experience preferred but not required
  • Obtaining or possessing a Food Protection Certificate, FDNY F-07 Fire and Emergency Drill Conductor, and Covid Compliance Training is required upon hire.

$40,000 per year

Usher (Part-Time)

The Part-Time Usher is the first point of contact for our audience members so a welcoming and helpful energy is required.

Reports to: Theater Manager 

Hours: 16 to 20 hours a week based on availability, Evenings & Weekends

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directing Patrons to appropriate theater spaces.
  • Providing information to patrons in regards to memberships and shows currently playing in the theater.
  • Coordinate all customer complaints to FOH assistants, Assistant House Manager or House Manager.
  • Operate Elevator to assist the control of people traffic.
  • Escorting patrons to their assigned seats.
  • Perform Pre-show theater checks to ensure theater is in a respectable manner to allow patrons in.
  • Monitor audience actions and report any disturbances that might occur during a show.
  • Report all lost and found items.
  • Assist the E: Bar bartenders in stocking the bar.
  • Responsible for taking tickets and reporting the House Count in the House Report.
  • Assist the House Manager or Assistant House Manager with any outstanding duties or responsibilities.
  • Participate in Annual 360 Performance Review Process
  • Must be COVID-19 Vaccinated and obtain an F-03 Indoor Place of Assembly Safety Personnel

Qualifications:
