Owned and operated by Elysabeth Kleinhans Theatrical Foundation—a not-for-profit operating foundation—59E59 Theaters is a lively venue with a 195-seat theater, a 99-seat theater and a 40-60 seat flexible theater. We present a year-round curated program of about 34 Off-Broadway productions that are nurtured and supported through highly subsidized rental rates that include: technical, ticketing, FOH, marketing & advertising, facilities, and press services.

Box Office Associate (Part-Time)

59E59 Theaters seeks a qualified candidate for the role of BOX OFFICE ASSOCIATE (PART-TIME).

Reports to: Box Office Manager

Hours: Part Time; General availability for weekday, weekend and evening shifts is strongly preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties include, but are not limited to, in-person and telephone ticket sales, distributing tickets at will call, processing email ticket orders through Spektrix, and providing exceptional customer service to theater members, single ticket buyers and visiting theater companies. 

A strong performing-arts background, cash-handling and customer service experience is required.  Performing-arts box office experience is preferred, particularly with computerized ticketing systems and window sales. Experience in Google Drive (Docs/Sheets/Forms) is a plus.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, meticulous, aggressively punctual, even-tempered, kind, good-humored, professional in appearance and clear in both spoken and written communication.

Salary:
$16/hour

Marketing Coordinator

The Marketing Coordinator provides administrative support to the Theaters’ Marketing and Ticketing departments. This position manages the patron database, and plays key roles in supporting membership, partnership, and group outreach. Additionally, this position assists the 59E59 Theaters appointed press rep with press relations. In alignment with our Community Agreement, the Coordinator will uphold 59E59’s mission and our dedication to inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility (IDEA) in the workplace, and our commitment to be an anti-racist organization.

Reports to: Marketing Manager 

Hours: FT, some evenings and weekends

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Marketing Manager in the creation and implementation of retention and growth campaigns and collateral to support 59E59 Theaters Membership schemes.
  • Assist the Marketing Manager with list pulls for institutional and departmental direct response pieces. 
  • Message the value of 59E59 Theaters’ programming to our members.
  • Identify and cultivate new members.
  • Track sales data, maintain promotional materials inventory, and track membership numbers for reporting.
  • Monitor and maintain the Spektrix and TRG Data Center patron databases.
  • Liaise with partnership businesses to support and expand the membership benefits scheme.
  • Support grassroots audience development initiatives.
  • Working in partnership with the Digital Marketing Associate, update and maintain our digital streaming platform. 
  • Assist the Director of Marketing with community engagement initiatives.
  • In addition, the Coordinator will also have some event management duties, planning and promoting special events.
  • Support 59E59 Theaters’ publicist as needed, including maintaining an internal media database and compiling press materials for all productions.
  • Assist with proofreading all marketing copy.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Marketing Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and the entire Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Customer service mindset
  • The ability to work independently 
  • Strong interpersonal written and oral communication skills
  • Experience using a box office ticketing system or CRM platform preferred but not required

Salary:
$35,000

Usher (Part-Time)

The Part-Time Usher is the first point of contact for our audience members so a welcoming and helpful energy is required.

Reports to: Theater Manager 

Hours: 16 to 20 hours a week based on availability, Evenings & Weekends

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directing Patrons to appropriate theater spaces.
  • Providing information to patrons in regards to memberships and shows currently playing in the theater.
  • Coordinate all customer complaints to FOH assistants, Assistant House Manager or House Manager.
  • Operate Elevator to assist the control of people traffic.
  • Escorting patrons to their assigned seats.
  • Perform Pre-show theater checks to ensure theater is in a respectable manner to allow patrons in.
  • Monitor audience actions and report any disturbances that might occur during a show.
  • Report all lost and found items.
  • Assist the E: Bar bartenders in stocking the bar.
  • Responsible for taking tickets and reporting the House Count in the House Report.
  • Assist the House Manager or Assistant House Manager with any outstanding duties or responsibilities.
  • Participate in Annual 360 Performance Review Process
  • Must be COVID-19 Vaccinated and obtain an F-03 Indoor Place of Assembly Safety Personnel

Qualifications:

  • Excellent customer service skills and able to stay calm in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive attitude and flexibility
  • Great communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Knowledge and/or interest in theater preferred but not required
