Show Info

Welcome to LAByrinth’s 23rd annual Barn Series! The renowned free reading series is a festival of new plays, and a critical and exciting step in LAB’s development of new work.  Many of LAByrinth’s world premieres have come from the Barn, giving audiences a sneak peak into the artistic process, and a chance to see plays before they’re the next hot ticket.

Diary Play

Diary Play is a one-woman show constructed almost entirely of old diary entries from the playwright's teenhood interwoven with current day reflections. Through looking back, the playwright is able to answer questions about why she is the woman she is today, and create a newfound sense of hope for the woman she might eventually become in the future.

Madeline Barr is a playwright/actor/director with a BFA from NYU. She just completed a fellowship with Dramatic Question Theater. Last month she did a workshop of her new play, Recurring at Castillo Theater. Her play Three which she co-wrote won NY Society Library's Grant for "Best Emerging Female Playwright". She often workshops her writing at The Farm Theater. She has been a member of LAByrinth Theater since summer of '22 and is overjoyed to have the opportunity to present her work at The Barn Series this year. She is represented by Davien Littlefeild.
